Secret Scan Before Commit

The agent stages a file that contains an API key, an AWS secret, or a private key and commits it. Once pushed, the secret is compromised forever. Scan staged content before the commit runs.

Install

  1. 1Manual install

    Copy the hook file from the repository into ~/.claude/hooks/<name>.sh. The filename must match the hook name (e.g. secret-scan-pre-commit.md).

  2. 2Verify

    /agents, /commands or /hooks in Claude Code

    Restart Claude Code and list your installed components to confirm it was picked up.
